The success of smartphones and cellular network technologies (2G to 4G) not only brings widespread benefits to people around the world, but also creates new challenges regarding security and privacy of user's personal information. Also, no surprise that the Internet of Things and upcoming self-driving cars have to be relied on these cellular network technologies. Relatively few of recent research reports unsecure cellular network technologies as an additional threat vector to user's privacy. In 2025, will the privacy threats in new cellular network technologies (for example 5G Internet with a speed of 10 Gbps) be contained, or will they overwhelm with new risks?

We will consider some of the possible future scenarios and the possible professional responses to these. As everybody carries at least one device connected to cellular network 24 hours a day, it is clear that some profound improvement is needed; but is effort best focused on privacy engineering, design, standards, national regulations, end users awareness, or all of these? We will shed some lights over what can be achieved to protect your mobile privacy in 2025.
