Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO of Webroot will provide an overview of malware trends and evolution throughout the past year. It will also identify some of the attack vectors used, and provide insight into changes of behavior, such as the increase in complexity, as well as use of advanced techniques to avoid detection.
Additional focus will be given to some of the challenges due to rapid creation of large numbers of new malware variants, and malware that caused disruption for users and businesses in 2009.

As chief technology officer and senior vice president of engineering at Webroot, Gerhard is responsible for developing and driving the company’s overall product strategy. He also manages Webroot’s research and development teams to innovate cloud based security solutions. Gerhard most recently served as chief technology officer and vice president of engineering at Qualys, Inc., where he pioneered the company’s Software as a Service based vulnerability management platform.
Widely regarded as one of the foremost experts on vulnerabilities and network security, Gerhard has presented his research to the U.S. Congress and at numerous major security conferences including RSA, Black Hat and CSI. He is one of the inventors of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) and holds numerous patents in the field of network security.
